Well, once again we've let too long a time go by between updates.  Some exciting shows coming up.  Playing The Listening Room in Franklin on July 5th at 9pm with Steven Strobel, Robert K. Wolf, and Debra Soule. Should be a blast.  Also, another round coming up at the Bluebird Cafe. Playing with Matt Keating, and good buddies Rob Wolf and Paul Harbin on Saturday July 19th at 630pm.  In other news, Bill's song When Autumn Leaves recieved an Honorable Mention in the most recent CMT/NSAI Song Contest! Thanks to YOU!  Thanks for continuing to spread the word.  If you would like to help us out by writing a short review of the cd on CDBaby, please click here:  https://cdbaby.com/cd/billmaier    It only takes a minute, and would be greatly appreciated.

By now we should realize that things always take longer than they should and stop making promises... The good news is... after a series of snags, snafus and delays the CD is finally at the manufacturer, and it's only a matter of about 10 days before we've got them in hand. We promise.  (fingers crossed)  In the meantime, we're gonna be gearing up to get a copy into your hands by revamping our store page etc...  We need help doing that kind of stuff... which means we're on someone else's schedule, which is the reason for the delay with taking the pre-orders like we promised.  As soon as we have the store page ready to go we'll start taking orders.  And as soon as the manufacturer sends the CD's to us we'll rush them right out to you.  Thanks for your interest.  We've had a lot of people inquiring about the cd.  Good to know you care!  Also we've had a bunch of folks inquiring about hosting house concerts.  We've already got at least 2 of those planned.  What on earth is a house concert??  Click here for more info.

September 30, 2006,

King Ranch rocked the house last night at Lyrix.  The new rhythm section, featuring drummer Joel Atkins and Gary (Brotherman) Branchaud knocked the socks off the crowd.    Frontman Brooks Tucker showed off his vocal chops, while Bill Maier and John Russell provided a powerful one two punch on electric and acoustic guitars and vocals.  The enthusiastic late night crowd wouldn't let the band leave the stage without an encore.  King Ranch is honored by the presence of Nashville veteran bassist Brotherman, who has played with a who's who in music from (Elvis' sideman) Scotty Moore to Kenny Rogers, to Keith Richards and many more..

August 7, 2006

Busy week. A couple of last minute rounds at The Bluebird and The Commodore.  Bill's set at The Pond in Franklin was a success.  King Ranch, featuring Bill Maier, Brooks Tucker and John Russell debuted the same night too. So come on down.  Come back soon. We'll be posting some more songs on the website soon.

Welcome back to TenGallonFat.com

FAT IS BACK!!  After a few months down, the TenGallonFat website is finally back up and running. Somehow the website got lost in the shuffle while we changed web servers, and Bill Maier moved from New York to Nashville, Tennessee.  And in that hubub, the entire last year's worth of web entries, (songs, pictures and news) all disappeared into cyberspace.  But that's all old news anyway.  Here's looking to the future!!

The boys of Ten Gallon Fat are off playing in a few different bands back in NY, while Bill is doing his best to be noticed amongst the throngs of talented songwriters that call Nashville home.  After another standout performance at the Sunday night writers round at the Bluebird Cafe, Maier was chosen to play in a "Sunday Best" round on Thursday October 20th.  (Detail on the shows page)  Ya'll come on down and visit a spell, and come out and watch Bill rock the Bluebird.  Ya hear?  Maybe you can even crash on his couch!! Lots of new songs hatching.  Hear them exclusively at TenGallonFat.com.  Check back soon for some new MP3's.

August, 2004

After a six months of flying under the radar, Ten Gallon Fat hit the stage with a new drummer at the C-Note in NYC last Friday.  Check out the pictures in the scrapbook

Also last week, Bill Maier made his debut appearance at the Sunday night writers night at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, in Nashville TN.  Check out the bootleg MP3's on the bottom left of this page.

July 19, 2004

Well the summer is flying by as usual.  Had a blast in Connecticut last week playing with The Ed Ryan Band, warming up for Felix Cavalierre's Rascals in Downtown Stamford.  The old man can still rock.  I forgot how many great songs Felix and The Rascals had.  It's no wonder they're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

August is almost upon us.  I'm looking forward to playing the Bluebird in Nashville on August 1st.  I'm even more excited to be finally playing with Ten Gallon Fat again.  Our new drummer, Howie will be making his Fat debut with us at The C-Note Friday August 6th.  Details on the Shows page.  Check back often.  More shows to be announced soon.

May/June 2004

Hey all.  Thanks for checking out the Ten Gallon Fat website.  The band is busy right now auditioning for a new drummer and a multi-instrumentalist.  Hopefully we'll be up and playing again soon.  Looking forward to a fat-tastic music filled summer.

Plans are in the works for an outdoor musical extravaganza in upstate New York, featuring present and former members of Ten Gallon Fat and liquid children.  Details to follow. Also coming up this summer, Bill will be moonlighting with the Ed Ryan Band warming up for Felix Cavaliere and The Rascals at an amphitheater in Connecticut. And of course Bill will also be making his Bluebird Cafe debut on August 1st down in Nashville. Hope to see you soon.

A bumpy flight home to snowy New York.  A Friday night acoustic set with Ten Gallon Fat at the always fun C-Note in NYC.  A complimentary blurb in Time Out New York Magazine. An email from the recording studio booked weeks ago saying the band has been bumped out of their scheduled sessions by a band from EMI records. A letter in the mailbox with good news of a passed audition and a summer booking at the legendary Bluebird Cafe! What a week!!

Bill Maier Album Release Postponed...AGAIN!

The release of Bill Maier's long awaited solo CD has once again been postponed.  Although over 20 tracks have been recorded, and some bootleg CD's have been floating around for months,  a decision has been made to shelve the project until after the release of the Ten Gallon Fat CD.  The decision is sure to disappoint some long time fans who have been patiently waiting for a new record, but Maier says the decision was made with those fans in mind.  "Playing with the band has taken some of the songs to a whole new level. I want people to hear my songs in the best possible light. Sometimes I get lucky and capture the magic of a song playing all the instruments myself.  Sometimes just a vocal and an acoustic guitar does the trick.  But playing with the band takes some songs to places I could never get to otherwise. I'm very excited to be making a record with Ten Gallon Fat.  We're gonna record quickly, and make a live sounding record...not too polished. Hopefully we'll catch some lightning in a bottle."

The band has begun pre-production, and plans to get into the studio shortly.

September 16, 2003

NYC, Mountain Stage Festival

Be sure to catch Bill Maier's Friday September 19th show at the C-Note (157 Ave. C at 10th St), his last local appearance until the November 18th TG Fat Triad show.  After the C-Note, Bill heads south to Nashville for a few co-writing appointments, then on to West Virginia to play in the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival to be held from September 26-28 on the grounds of the historic 350-acre Claymont Court estate outside of Charles Town, West Virginia. Now in its second year, the festival celebrates the spirit of the long-running 'Mountain Stage' syndicated live performance radio program, and showcases some of the world's best performing songwriters and rising stars in multiple genres, including folk, country, pop, blues, alternative, roots music and other traditions. Bill will perform in the Performing Songwriters' Contest, which aims to showcase some of the best up-and-coming performing songwriters in the land; the grand-prize song contest winner will perform on Sunday's festival-ending Mountain Stage broadcast, sharing the bill with a lineup of national and international stars.
